Ali Mostafa

UX/UI Designer

About Candidate

I am Ali Mostafa.

I am a graduate of the civil engineering department at Cairo University.

During the past five years, I attended college to study engineering. But even though I was enrolled in that field, my passion lays elsewhere.

In college, I was active in many student activities. Initially, my focus was on graphic design; however, over time I learned more about marketing from other team members.

I started learning about UX/UI design when my team had an idea for a mobile application, so I began researching this topic and found that it really fascinated me.

I changed careers after graduation and began with fundamentals in UX Design by Mahara-Tech. I then went on to study for Advanced UX Design Nano-Degree through Udacity, while working towards building real-world skills.

If you want to find out more about me, I’d love for us to connect.

Successfully collected enough data from surveys and interviews along with the research plan to start building the application. Then the sketching and ideation part with some common techniques like Crazy-8 and feature prioritization. Moved to create the first user flow in Miro to start the wireframe and created the first low-fidelity prototype in Figma. Performed a usability study to learn more about users’ interaction with the application. Iterated and iterated to improve the accessibility and created a high-fidelity mockup then used the lookback.io for the final usability study with users in this project. Prepared the design for handoff to engineers and Created a style guide using Zeplin. A lot of skills were used in this project, that includes researching, planning, creating and conducting interviews and surveys, brainstorming and sketching, wireframing, and prototyping. The latest usability study was focusing on two main KPIs: 1- increase the speed of the process. 2- decrease the time on tasks. Adding the (add to cart) button to the shop page increased the processing speed by about 40% and the participants reported that it’s easier now to checkout directly. Putting the offers page into the checkout page as a pop-up decreased about 80% of the time that users will take to go to another page and choose the offer then return again to the checkout. An interesting insight that I found is there are a lot of people who actually don’t like the huge variety of options shown in the online store platforms, which makes it easy for new apps to come alive when they adopt a specific industry or a particular service. So, this opens up a lot of opportunities for new startups and creative thinking. In my early research, I found that customers are more comfortable and have more trust in apps that offers real-time support epically about products or payments. That’s why I came up with the idea of creating a new option for customers to be able to do so by chatting with a real person from customer service anytime they want to. After the ideation in the feature prioritization matrix, this idea needs so much time and money with so we decided to delay it for a little more after the app release.
